Image, document and selected-media service terms

Terms of use

Effective 5 September 2026. These terms describe the currently implemented service and its operational limits.

Current service scope

What Made It? provides image intake checks, file structure and metadata inspection, available Content Credentials checks, an evidence report and private report history. A controlled image-detector Beta may combine the What Made It? model ensemble with Hive when its deployment and external-processing controls are enabled.

Signed-in accounts can use the PDF page Beta. It parses an eligible PDF in the browser and submits only the selected browser-rendered pages as separate image analyses. It does not analyze document text, assign one verdict to the whole PDF, or extend page results to unselected pages.

Signed-in accounts can use the Office embedded-image Beta for standard DOCX and PPTX packages. It inspects the package locally and submits only the JPEG, PNG or WebP images the user explicitly selects, with a maximum of five images per collection. It does not submit document text, reconstruct layout, assign one verdict to the whole document or extend results to unselected images. Macro-enabled, externally linked and unsupported packages are rejected.

Signed-in accounts can use the bounded Video frame Beta. It submits only the frames the user explicitly selects and confirms, with a maximum of five frames per collection. Each frame is analyzed separately through the image pipeline; a frame result is not extended to the complete video.

Signed-in accounts can also use the bounded Audio clip Beta. It submits one explicitly selected and confirmed clip of up to 30 seconds as a standardized WAV for directional provider analysis. The result applies only to that selected clip and is not extended to the complete recording. What Made It? does not identify a speaker, produce a transcript or claim that a complete recording is authentic. Excel, legacy binary Office files, public sharing, batch processing and developer API access are not currently enabled.

Results are not proof

An assessment describes technical signals found in the submitted evidence unit. An available model channel may show a directional signal strength from 0 to 100, its configured threshold state and model version. That number is not the probability that a file was AI-generated. It does not prove who created a file, whether a person intended deception, whether copyright is valid, or whether material is admissible evidence.

A strong Beta result requires at least two independent evidence channels to agree. A one-channel result is labelled as a lower-confidence review indicator. A result stating that no strong AI signal was detected does not establish authentic capture, and conflicting trusted provenance remains inconclusive. PDF page, Office embedded-image, Video frame and Audio clip results apply only to the selected unit and are not combined into a whole-file score. Do not use What Made It? as the sole basis for employment, legal, financial, moderation or safety decisions.

Your uploads

Only process files, PDF pages, Office embedded images, selected video frames and audio clips that you are authorized to use. Do not submit illegal material, malware, intimate content without consent, privileged recordings, biometric or voice-identification material, or regulated and highly sensitive information. The original PDF, DOCX, PPTX, video and audio remain local, but selected rendered page images, selected Office embedded-image copies, explicitly confirmed derived video frames and one explicitly confirmed standardized audio clip are uploads governed by the same restrictions. Current file handling is described in the Privacy page.

Free access, plans and billing

Guest visitors may run up to three live scans per UTC day without an account. Paid plans require a What Made It? consumer account. Dodo Payments acts as Merchant of Record and provides the hosted checkout and customer billing portal; What Made It? does not receive or store complete card details. Prices, billing period and applicable taxes are shown before payment. Subscription access continues for the paid period unless it is cancelled, expires, is refunded or payment fails. Cancellation and refund requests are handled through the hosted billing flow and applicable purchase terms.

An environment or checkout labelled Preview, Test or Simulator does not create a production charge or production entitlement. A production purchase is made only through a hosted checkout that clearly presents the real price, billing period, currency and applicable tax before confirmation.

Availability and changes

The service may be interrupted, changed or withdrawn. Reports should be independently verified and exported when needed. No accuracy, uptime or fitness-for-purpose warranty is provided unless a separate written agreement states otherwise. Questions about plans, refunds or these terms can be sent to support@whatmadeit.com.
